Do girls like action toys too?

By action toys, I mean toys with exciting motion, sound or light, not just those in fighting themes. The toy building block aisles in the boy section of most toy stores are loaded with new and exciting themed items but the girl sections only offer limited choices in stereotypical shopping or house themed blocks.  Is it because most girls don’t like exciting toys or maybe  manufacturers miss it?
